Contextual Overview:
We have developed the narrative and installations for the globally acclaimed “Journey of the Pioneers” exhibition at the Museum of the Future in Dubai, which has been visited by millions of people. The Museum of the Future is a highly anticipated, award-winning, global project created in collaboration with world-renowned design studios for the Dubai Future Foundation. Throughout the three-floor, in-world exhibition set in 2071, visitors find themselves immersed in the speculative future of tomorrow to inspire the kind of action needed to preserve the planet today. The exhibition received global acclaim, numerous design awards and over five million visitors.
The OSS Hope chapter of the exhibition, conceived and produced in collaboration with Galerija 12, tells the story of a sustainable future that hinges on humankind’s presence in space. In addition to developing the vast and exciting spacescape of 2071, which provided the basis for the entire museum’s in-world narrative, Galerija 12 produced several hero exhibits with pioneering custom technologies and interfaces.

Technological Overview:
We employed our world-building philosophy and methodology to design compelling futuristic narratives that forged a monumental spacescape of 2071. The process involved fabricating an entire future history that led to 2071, as well as developing hundreds of narrative threads of global actors, entities, events and places. Our researchers even developed and calculated a technically feasible concept of space-energy harvesting with scientific experts. To showcase this vast world to visitors, we designed and produced spectacular storytelling, digital media, UX design and apps.
Physically producing the exhibits involved grand fabrication efforts, which brought to life a four-meter scale model of a space station and the world's largest moving orrery—both featuring an incredible level of detail. The work involved a great scope of artisanal interventions that ranged from hand painting to casting, and often required new, custom techniques. The exhibits and future objects were fitted with custom pioneering technologies to create previously unseen experiences, such as a shape-shifting, 3D interface that combined digital media with custom hardware and electronics.
