Contextual Overview:
Under the Museum of the Future initiative, Galerija 12 conceived and designed the “Humans 2.0” exhibition at the 2019 World Government Summit in Dubai. The experience invited the public to explore first-hand how forthcoming technological revolutions could affect individuals by enhancing their bodies and minds.
As visitors journeyed through the exhibition spaces, they experienced several decades of an in-world speculative future that showcased how technology could eventually make us transhuman. By confronting spectators with gradual human transformations, the exhibition reflected on what it means to be human in a post-information era and where the line lies beyond which we can no longer be considered human. Galerija 12 built one-of-a-kind interactions to convey this future, blending storytelling with technology to create a novel experience for the audience.

Technological Overview:
“Humans 2.0” concepts were grounded in scientific accuracy and technical feasibility. By conducting extensive research across disciplines ranging from biorobotic and genetic engineering to neural interfaces, we developed speculative but credible projections of future developments in applied technology. To convey this future to visitors, we built a unique fusion of digital media and scenographic elements that blurred the line between the real and the digital.
Most notably, this approach brought to life an audience-favorite, natural-looking and life-size human animatronic that interacted with visitors through eye movements and head motions. Several installations involved a creative and pioneering intertwining of technologies throughout the exhibition. Large holographic projections featured dynamic, scenographic elements combined with real-world props. Hyper-realistic sculpting was interlaced with mechanical and robotic engineering. Motion-tracking, virtual reality and custom applications all enriched the interactions audiences had with the digital content.
